Bubblegum is a lightweight and catchy sub genre of pop music. Bubblegum pop was a significant commercial force force in the late 60's and early 70's. Bubblegum pop was primarily targeted at a preteen audience. The original genre lasted roughly 5 years as the genres preteen fans grew up. However the genre is not completely gone as musicians that grew up with the bubblegum genre created songs that reflected the sunny catchy simplicity of the music.

Teen pop is essentially dance pop, pop and urban ballads that are marketed to Teens. Teen pop is the teen music that was made during the late 80's and 90's. Songs that were catchy, commercial and had dance pop tunes and was overall wholesome. As soon as Nirvana became mainstream Teen pop went underground but it made a comeback further into the 90's.
